One November morning around 4:00 a.m., Frances awoke to begin her devotion. She propped herself in her bed and placed the needed materials neatly around her left and right side—a cleansing prayer, her Bible, a current Upper Room devotional booklet, a wisdom book, and her journal.
Midway through her time with God, Frances stopped. She said, “Lord, I’m ready. I am ready to be that storm you intended me to be.”
As Frances slept alone every night, she could have shouted those words, but she didn’t. She whispered them to God; she whispered because she was surprised by the confession she had just made, yet she was in complete peace.
For the average person, a storm is a troubling time in life—moments filled with struggle and pain. But that’s not what Frances envisioned. Frances saw her life, her gift, as a huge rolling cloud just waiting to burst forth the nourishing waters that would release potential in so many corners of the world.
Frances was willing to yield to a vision God had placed in her spirit—as unthinkable as that was for this young woman. At that moment of yielding, she turned from complacency to faithfulness.
Early that November morning Frances chose to yield to God; she desired to be a Woman of REACH.
