This story is about a land takeover in Texas by a scheming Union major and his two nephews. Unfortunately for them it was the ranch that belonged to John Lee Johnson’s father. The hard-charging Texan leaves his soldierly duties with the approbation of his superiors and returns over many miles, meting out justice and mercy on his way. He encounters many problems and adventures on his way much like Ulysses on his way home from Troy.

John Lee Johnson arose from his position behind the bole of the tree. He had two-Navy sixes in his hands. He looked at the Reverend Simon Finley and said, "Saul was looking for his asses and you like King Saul have found them." He paused and said, "Now drop your weapons or die where you stand."

Conn Hamlett received his BA from Lipscomb University and his MA from Peabody/Vanderbilt, located in Nashville, Tennessee. He has career has been varied: Latin teacher, professional wrestler in the NWA, competitive bodybuilder in the 1970s, radio personality, and sports host on 1510-WLAC. He has traveled extensively, having visited Europe and the islands of the Mediterranean ten times.
